SA Digital Nomad Visa
On the 29th of March 2024, we submitted our community-endorsed comments to the department of Home Affairs, in support of the proposed South African digital nomad visa.

Background
The Department of Home Affairs in South Africa is seeking public comments on draft amendments to overhaul immigration regulations, which include introducing a point-based system for assessing work visas, creating a digital nomad visa, formalizing rules for visitor visas for spouses, parents, and children of South African nationals or permanent residents, modifying guidance on certificates of registration, and formalizing police clearance documentation requirements.
These proposed changes aim to create a more transparent adjudication process for work visas, offer an immigration pathway for remote workers, and formalize existing rules for family members of South African nationals or permanent residents. Additionally, the amendments seek to streamline the visa application process by relaxing certain requirements like police clearance certificates for foreign nationals. The Department of Home Affairs intends to implement these amendments to boost tourism and address talent shortages in the country.
